Abstract The increasing adoption of home gardening in urban and residential environments has created a need for efficient plant-care practices that minimize resource consumption while maintaining suitable growing conditions. Home gardens provide an accessible means of producing vegetables, fruits, herbs, and ornamental plants within limited residential spaces, but their productivity depends strongly on appropriate irrigation management. Water availability in the plant root zone directly influences physiological processes, nutrient transport, photosynthetic activity, and plant growth. Irrigation based only on fixed time intervals or manual observation does not account for variations in soil moisture, rainfall, temperature, humidity, and solar radiation. Such practices result in unnecessary water application during periods of adequate soil moisture and insufficient irrigation during dry conditions. Obaideen et al. (2022) reported that the integration of sensors, automation, and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies provides an effective framework for monitoring soil and environmental conditions and improving irrigation management.
