| Abstract | Buddhist architecture in India is among the earliest forms of religious architecture, emerging during the reign of Emperor Ashoka. It includes structures such as stupas, chaityas, and viharas, seen in sites like Sanchi, Ajanta, and Ellora. This paper examines the influence of Buddhist architecture on later Hindu and Jain temple designs, particularly in layout, construction, and artistic elements. It also explores how these styles spread across Asia. Overall, Buddhist architecture has significantly contributed to India’s cultural heritage and continues to influence modern architectural practices. |
