Author(s) Dr. Surajit Roy
Country India
Abstract This study analyzes how Rabindranath Tagore transformed Bengali oral folk traditions into his art song compositions, known as Rabindra Sangeet. It emphasizes the synthesis of folk heritage and artistic innovation, showcasing the influence of folk melodies and lyrical themes in Tagore's work. The research examines melodic adaptations, folk motifs, and narrative techniques, revealing Tagore’s compositions as a reimagining of Bengali folk music that blurs the lines between folk and classical genres. This synthesis reflects his cultural mission to preserve heritage while embracing modernity, enhancing the emotional depth and cultural significance of his songs.
